Introduction: Chelsea Yacht Club
takes full advantage of a prime position on
Port Phillip Bay
with a lovely wide sandy beach with ample room for rigging of boat or just
lazing the time away in the sun.
History: The Club was established in 1938 by a group of local yachtsmen. Its first home was a small boat shed on the foreshore only a short distance from our present site.
The
Facilities: The
Clubhouse today consists of a two storey brick building with boat storage &
changing rooms at foreshore level. The second level offers a bar, lounge,
kitchen/canteen, sundeck & BBQ facilities.
The race tower in the next level where officials have the perfect view,
essential for complete water safety and co-ordination of the running of
races & rescue boats by radio.
Ample car parking space is available on the foreshore along with three access ramps on to the beach.
